General Information
What does DDL & TOP stand for?
- DDL & OTP stands for "Dependable Dealers & Other Trustworth People". It was originally just the "Dependable Dealers List", but the second classification was later tacked on. The "DDL" abbreviation stuck with it.
What is a "Walk of Famer"?
- A Walk of Famer is a seller/dealer that has been recommended to the list more than 10 times within a 6 month period. It is felt that at this point they can be nearly guaranteed to be dependable and need no listing of the recommending people.
Who is responsdible for creating/maintaining the DDL?
- The DDL was originally created and maintained by Karen Cooper. It has since been taken over by Jamie Gerdes and placed on the web. Jamie now does all of the updates and administration. Thanks to Karen for starting such a wonderful document!
How does it work?
- The CGI that runs it was certainly one of the most difficult one I've ever written. For a better idea of the process, take a look at this flowchart diagram I made to help keep my brain straight while programming it. This is just the adding process, and doesn't include the expiration.
- Basically, people (buyers) just report pleasurable purchases that they've made with someone over the internet. That seller is then added to the list for future buyers to use as a reference to judge a seller's reliability.
You keep mentioning the "PEZHead Mailing List". What is it? How do I get on it?
- This is a huge email mailing list of hundreds of PEZ collectors. Find out how to signup on this page.
Listings on the DDL
How do I make a recommendation for a Seller to the DDL?
- Send a message to jamie@pezheads.org and include the following...
- The subject MUST include the letters "DDL".
- Your FULL NAME and EMAIL must be included in the message.
- The dealer's FULL name and email must be included in the message.
- That's it! Simple enough. But if all of these requirements aren't met, your recommendation will not be processed.
I submitted my entry to be added, but it didn't show up. How come?
- Did you meet all of the requirements (listed above) for submitting a recommendation? If not it didn't get processed...and it won't.
- It can sometimes take 1-2 weeks for your entry to be added. If it still hasn't shown up after this time, and you're sure you met all of the requirements (listed above) than you may resubmit it.
I sold/traded PEZ with someone on the PEZHeads List...why aren't they on the DDL?
- They aren't added unless YOU recommend them! Help us help you, and do so!
I want to be on the DDL; what do I do?
- When you sell an item, be sure to provide good communication, speedy delivery, protective packaging, and good honest salesmanship. If you feel comfortable, you might consider asking your buyer to add you if they feel you deserve it. That's up to you to decide if you'd like to do so..
How come "so-and-so" isn't on the DDL...isn't he/she a Dependable Dealer?
- This dealer may have just never done any selling before and so therefor haven't had anything to reference.
- Many people don't recommend dealers after making a sale. Not because it was a bad experience, just because they don't think to make a recommendation. If a dealer isn't on this list, you'll just need to make your own judgement as to the reliability of the person. You should do this anyway...
